1969 Ford Mustang
1969 showed that the Mustang was now a performance leader. The
name had become very common with car enthusiasts and those who craved
speed...and a whole lot of it. Ford released this Mustang with design
change; this was the second since 1964. The car once again grew larger
and the height was decreased by an inch and a half. There were a ton
of options that came with the car, including the large amount of
engines; that year, Ford produced 10 different engines for the
Mustang. Also, on the inside, nothing was left the same. The dashboard
was separated into two boxy openings on both the driver's side and
passenger's side. Although all of this seemed great for Ford (and it
was), it wasn't looking all that great for Carroll Shelby and the
Shelby line of Mustangs. With the Mach 1 and Boss Mustangs, Shelby's
no longer had all that much of an advantage over the original Fords.
